l 02 – Your Heritage Afloat MTB
I 02 is one of only a very few World War II Royal Navy vessels still afloat and
is thought to be the only Royal Navy vessel that took part in the Dunkirk
evacuation surviving. She
was built by Vosper Ltd and launched in 1936. Capable of 48 knots, she was the
fastest wartime British naval vessel in service. Motor torpedo boats were
developed to be able to mount a quick response to threats from any seagoing
vessels -warships or submarines. With
an impressive war service record MTB 102 is now a veteran of many films and
television programmes and remains fully seaworthy. She is funded by The MTB 102
Trust and location use of the vessel will help to keep this unique historic
vessel operating for as long as possible. MTB
102 belongs to the Military Powerboat Historic Fleet, whose other boats are also
available, it includes: HSL 102, RAF 206, RAF 1387, HDML 1387, and a Range
Safety Launch. Contact:
