The
Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower, built in 1821, was one of a series of semaphore
stations that provided a visual link between the Admiralty in Whitehall and the
Royal Naval Dockyard in Portsmouth. It is now the only surviving example of this historic line of communication and was restored by Surrey County Council in 1989.
This
unusual and historic tower has been used as a location for several period drama
productions and stills shoots and lends itself for use as a location for
film/stills. The
tower is open to the public at weekends. For further information please contact the Tower manager, Paul Taylor on +44 (0)1372 458822. Stating that you found it on Location-Solutions website.
